David C. Sandstedt

David C. Sandstedt, age 76, of Crofton, Nebraska, passed away on Sunday, November 6, 2011 from an accidental death near his home.

Memorial services are 6:00 PM, on Friday, November 11, 2011 at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton with Reverend David Lund officiating. Following the memorial service will be a Masonic service by the St. John's Masonic Lodge. There will be a gathering of family and friends one hour prior the memorial service at the funeral home.

David was born May 29, 1935 in Omaha, Nebraska to Wilmer and Matilda (Rau) Sandstedt. He grew up in Omaha and graduated from Omaha South High School in 1953. After school, David worked at several companies in Omaha including Beebe and Runyan Furniture Company, Nebraska Furniture Mart, Met Life Insurance Company and King Coil Mattress Company. He was married to Jacqueline Covington on November 28, 1959 in Wellington, Kansas. In 2000, they moved to their lake house on Lewis and Clark Lake. David operated furniture stores in Hartington, Nebraska and then in Crofton. He loved his job and enjoyed traveling and visiting with his customers. David enjoyed working on his cars and showing them at car shows. He also had a big heart for all animals. Above all, David always enjoyed the opportunities to share time with family. David was a member of the St. John's Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite Chorus. He was also a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Yankton, the Crofton American Legion and a retired member of the Air National Guard.

David is survived by his wife, Jackie of Crofton; two children, Leslie (Tim) Nelson of Omaha and David (Kelly) Sandstedt of Omaha; five grandchildren: Derick, Cassidy, Serena, Caitlin and Cody; a brother, Richard (Barbara) Sandstedt of Omaha; and many nieces and nephews.

David was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Virginia Cole; and three brothers: John, James and Wilmer "Bill" Sandstedt.

I am so sorry to hear of David's death. He was a very nice guy and Crofton and I will miss him! Jackie, our sympathy goes out to you and your family. I hope I will see you before the funeral.
