Stephanie Ann Mikkelson

Stephanie Ann Mikkelson, age 55, was received into the loving arms of her Savior on June 11, 2026.

Funeral service will be 10:30 AM on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Yankton, South Dakota, with Reverend Steve Weispfennig officiating. Burial will be in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Yankton, South Dakota. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral on Thursday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Yankton. Memorials could be directed to Special Olympics of South Dakota and Epilepsy Foundation of South Dakota.

Stephanie Ann Mikkelson was born November 30, 1970, in Yankton, South Dakota, to Glenn and Carol (Zwemke) Mikkelson. She was baptized at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Yankton on December 20, 1970. She attended Hope Preschool and Stewart School where she received love and support from her special instruction teachers. Over her life, Stephanie touched and blessed others through her unique circumstances. Stephanie lived at home where she was dearly loved and cared for by her family. She loved to develop her fine motor skills with games and loved to be praised when she accomplished her goal. She enjoyed listening to music and her face would light up anytime she had guests visit her.

The family would like to extend their gratitude and appreciation to the Avera Sacred Heart ICU, hospice and various home health teams. They would also like to thank the pastors at St. John’s Lutheran Church, who supported Stephanie and her family throughout her life.

She is survived by her loving mother and primary caregiver, Carol Mikkelson of Yankton; two sisters: Kelly (Michael) King of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Sherri (Harry) Slaughter of Omaha, Nebraska; as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Glenn Mikkelson and paternal and maternal grandparents.
