Dorothy J. Wuebben, age 54, died unexpectedly on Monday, May 18, 2026 at her residence in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

A celebration of her life will take place at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Yankton.

Dorothy was born on July 27, 1971 in Omaha, Nebraska to Robert Mattingly and Dorothy Robinson. She grew up in Omaha where she was raised by Dorothy Robinson and Doug Ford. She moved to Tacoma, WA when she was a teenager and then later met Greg Ackerman in California. She then moved to Utica, SD where she had Nikki and then later married and had Chris. She also worked as a waitress at Happy Chef for many years. While being with Greg, Dorothy finished her GED. Dorothy was divorced to Greg, later was remarried for several years and had a son, Shawn. Dorothy attended Globe University to study Veterinary Technician and volunteered at Second Chance Rescue. She lived in Sioux Falls for many years and worked at Denny’s Restaurant until her health forced her to retire. Dorothy was very active in ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals). She had such a soft spot for those animals in need and she especially loved caring for cats. Dorothy enjoyed being a part of New Life Church in Sioux Falls. She also enjoyed crocheting and made lots of doylies over the years. Above all, Dorothy treasured her grandchildren and loved spending time with them.

Dorothy is survived by three children: Nikki Ackerman of Yankton, Chris (Amy) Ackerman of Springfield, SD and Shawn Wuebben of Sioux Falls; six grandchildren: Kimmberly and McKenzie Ackerman, Hayden and Jackson Hefling, Haiden Stockinger and Bernadette Ackerman; three siblings: Kathy (Jon) Skaggs of Whitewood, SD, Viola Price of Yankton and Jim Mattingly of Washington; and many nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy Trotter and Doug Ford; brother, Ray Robinson and sister, Sharon Jones.
