Born on February 7th, 2018 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Chevy lived each day with an incredible strength that inspired everyone around him. Although he lived everyday with the challenges brought on by cerebral palsy, he brought joy, light, and deep love into the lives of his family, friends, caregivers, teachers, and the entire community. His gentle spirit, ginormous smile, and innocent laughter had a way of making others feel comforted and loved.
Chevy enjoyed all things fire trucks, Wheel of Fortune, Sponge Bob, sloths, football (especially the Denver Broncos), semis (especially Dad’s truck) his brothers: Waylon and Holsten, sisters: Myla and Oaklyn and he especially loved spending time with his family. Chevy was proud to be an honorary member of the Boone County Search and Rescue. He had a collection of patches from fire departments and first responders that family and friends would gather for him from all over the country. He even received patches all the way from a department in Boston, MA and the “Ten House” in NYC, the fire department across the street from Ground Zero. Chevy had an incredibly unique way of communicating his love and happiness that touched every person fortunate enough to know him.
He is survived by his loving parents: Clayton and Ami and dad, Devin; brothers: Waylon and Holsten and sisters: Oaklyn and Myla; grandparents, and many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
Chevy will be joined in heaven by his brother, Reed; twin sisters: Josten and Jentree along with other family members.
Though Chevy is now resting in the arms of Jesus, his family takes comfort in knowing his life was meaningful, impactful and rooted in love. His absence will leave an immeasurable void. The beautiful spirit and great courage of such a young boy will never be forgotten and will only shine through in the memories and the souls of those who were blessed to be touched by his precious life on earth.
The family would like to thank Tabor EMS along with all other EMS and first responders who showed up every time Chevy was in need, all the caregivers, therapists and teachers for the extraordinary care and compassion shown to Chevy throughout his life.
“Held for a moment, loved for a lifetime.”
