Wanita Janssen, age 77 of Coleridge, Nebraska, died on Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at the Parkview Haven Nursing Home in Coleridge.

Funeral Services will be on Friday, December, 16, 2011 at 10:30 am at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Coleridge with Rev. Katherine Russell officiating. Burial will be in the Lawn Ridge Cemetery in Coleridge. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a Prayer Service at 7:00 pm at the church. Visitation will begin one hour prior to services on Friday at the church. The Wintz Funeral Home in Coleridge is in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers will be Keri Watkins, Lisa Elsasser, Patrick Janssen, Tony Janssen, Abby Frerichs, Nick Frerichs, Adam Elsasser, Jason Frerichs, Justin Fiscus and Erinoel Clifton.

Wanita was born on September 24, 1934 at Belden, Nebraska to Orphious and Alma (Frerichs) Krei. She grew up in the Coleridge area and attended North Star School through the 8th grade. She graduated from Coleridge High School in 1952. Wanita and Gordon Janssen were married on November 6, 1952 at Coleridge. They spent their first year of marriage in California and then moved to a farm in the Coleridge area. In 1980 they moved into Coleridge. Wanita operated the Coleridge Café for 5 years, worked at Coleridge Welding for 14 years and served as a caretaker beginning in 1989. She was a lifetime member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church and was confirmed in 1948. She taught Sunday school and was a former organist and choir member and a member of the Women of the ELCA.

Wanita is survived by her husband, Gordon of Coleridge; 4 children and their spouses, Beverly and Robert Winkler of LaVista, Nebraska; Rick and Janel Janssen of Auburn, Nebraska; Russ and Laura Janssen of Bellevue, Nebraska; Arlys Janssen of Bellevue; 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Waldine Krei and a sister, Joyce Krei.
