Irvin Holm, age 93 of Hartington, Nebraska died on Saturday, November 5, 2011 at his residence. He is the husband of Clarice.

Funeral Services will be on Thursday, November 10, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hartington with the Rev. David Lund officiating. Burial will be at the Coleridge City Cemetery in Coleridge, NE. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5-8:00 p.m. with a prayer service and Masonic Services by the Wausa Lodge #251 at 7:00 p.m. at the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington. Pallbearers will be Iver Lien, Ron Bardal, Gene Bardal, Dave Bardal, Curtis Bardal, Dave Peterson, Ed Peterson, and Gary Graham.

Honorary pallbearers will be Arnold Anderson, Gilbert Brummels, John Grindvold, Duane Larsen, Lyle McInnis, Gordon Yunker, Jim Specht and Merlin Evans.

Irvin Holm was born on the family farm July 29, 1918 in Fortuna, ND to Ingebright K. and Gertrude (Lund) Holm. He was baptized December 15, 1918 and later confirmed at Writing Rock Lutheran Church in Alkabo, ND. Irvin attended Writing Rock Grade School then helped his dad farm. In May of 1942 he joined the U.S. Army. He was in the 7th General Hospital Medical Corp stationed at Fort Grant, Illinois then went to Fort Andrews at Boston, MA. On July 1943 Irvin was shipped to Brisbane, Australia on the USS Comfort, then to a different island prior to going to New Guinea. Plans were to be home for Christmas but the boat motor blew and they were delayed a week. He returned to Camp Stoneman, CA and was discharged at Fort Lewis, WA. Irvin was married to Clarice Graham on January 24, 1946 at the Thorndike Hilton Chapel in Chicago, Illinois. Irvin and Clarice farmed in North Dakota for two years after their marriage prior to moving to the Hartington area. Irvin retired in 1987 and then they moved into town.

Irvin was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and council member, the Wausa Masonic Lodge #251, the Order of the Eastern Star Miriam Chapter 175 in Laurel, NE, Sons of Norway in Yankton. He was a former Pearl Creek Country School Board member and Cedar County Historical Society Board member. He was also a former 4-H leader. Irvin cherished his time with family and friends.

Irvin is survived by his wife, Clarice of Hartington; three children Cheryl Holm of Anoka, MN; Sheila Holm of San Diego, CA; Keith and wife Shelly Holm of New Braunfels, TX; two grandchildren, Jennifer and Allison Holm; sister Josephine Stockman of Williston, ND; sister-in-law Evis Olson of Walla Walla, WA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Joseph and Cornwall; sisters Pauline Pope, Gudrun Lien, Ella Bardal, and Clara Pederson.
