Mildred Koch, age 87 of Wynot, Nebraska died on Sunday, November 6, 2011 at the Golden Living Center in Hartington, NE.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at 10:30 am at the Holy Family (Sacred Heart) Catholic Church in Wynot with Rev. Eric Olsen officiating. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Wynot. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the church with a Vigil Service at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the church. The Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington is in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Jay Heimes, Grant Heimes, Ryan Koch, Kyle Heimes, Tyler Heimes, Jody Koch, Jesse Koch, Hunter Koch, Shawn Koch, Casey Koch, and John Lauer.
Honorary Pallbearers will the Wynot American Legion Auxiliary.
Mildred Dorothy Koch was born on April 25, 1924 in the Wynot area to Joseph and Ida (Arens) Promes. She grew up in the Wynot & St. James area and attended grade school in St. James. She married Erwin Koch on June 3, 1947. Mildred was a member of Holy Family (Sacred Heart) Catholic Church in Wynot. She was a member of the Christian Mothers and the Wynot American Legion Auxiliary. She served as a sacristan for the church and the priest's housekeeper and also worked at the Wynot School Cafeteria for many years. She was a fantastic cook and baker. Her pies were her specialty and she was always sending them to a friend or family member. She will be missed dearly.
Mildred is survived by her husband Erwin of 64 years; seven children and their spouses, Sharon and Alton Heimes; Roger and Rosalie Koch, Kathy Heimes, Randy and Mary Koch, Carmen and Ron Lauer all of Hartington, NE; Mike and Julie Koch of Yankton, SD; Aaron Koch of Wynot; 24 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; two brothers Jerome and wife Sally Promes of Wynot; Ervin and Sharon Promes of Carroll, IA; sisters-in-law Carol Promes of Carroll, IA and Alice Beyler of Wynot.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters Lucille Arens and Mary Ann Promes; two brothers Raymond and Gerald Promes; an infant son, a son-in-law David Heimes and grandson Jack Lauer.

I am so sorry to hear about your mom's death. I can honestly say that I feel your pain. Our mom's are probably up in heaven together sharing notes and discussing their kids. Wish I could have been there for you as you were for me but I just found out. My prayers are with you!!!
