Deloris I. Diefenderfer, age 88, of Yankton, South Dakota and formerly of Crofton, Nebraska, died on Thursday, September 1, 2011 at Avera Yankton Care Center in Yankton.
Memorial services are 7:00 PM, on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton with Reverend Justin Wiese officiating. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home.
Deloris was born March 16, 1923 in Norfolk, Nebraska to Leonard and Salina (Olson) Mather. She grew up in Norfolk where she graduated from Norfolk High School. On June 22, 1941, Deloris married Roy Diefenderfer. After their marriage, they continued to live in Norfolk raising their two sons. In 1979, they moved to Crofton and opened Diefenderfer Plumbing and Construction. Deloris worked there as the secretary until they sold the business in 1992. Deloris enjoyed flowers, boating and going to their cabin in Santee, Nebraska. She always loved babysitting her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Deloris was a loving wife and a wonderful, caring mother.
Deloris is survived by her two sons: Larry (Carol) Diefenderfer of Eureka, Montana and Terry (Linda) Diefenderfer of Yankton; five grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; brother-in-law, John (Shirley) Diefenderfer of Thousand Oaks, California; two sisters-in-law: Ellen (Harry) Heckendorf of Thousand Oaks and Mary (Don) Forbes of Vista, California; and many nieces and nephews.
Deloris was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roy on March 18, 2011; brother, Leonard Mather Jr.; and a sister, Marcella Sullivan.
