Richard Lee Davenport age 64 of Allen, Nebraska died on Thursday, April 21, 2022 at the Hillcrest Care Center in Laurel, Nebraska. Funeral services will be on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Allen, Nebraska with Carol Jean Stapleton officiating.  Burial will be at the Eastview Cemetery in Allen, Nebraska.  Visitation will be on Saturday, at church, from 11:30 a.m. until service time.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home in Laurel, Nebraska. Pallbearers will be Rick Chase, Doug Kluver, Derick Nice, Boyce Perkins, John Warner, and Matt Warner. Honorary Pallbearers will be DeWayne Davenport Jr., Brent Wolfe, Becky Wolfe, and Megan Warner. Richard was born in Spencer, Iowa on October 8, 1957 and graduated from Allen High School in 1976. Richard was a life-long resident of Allen where he worked for his dad, Maurice, in his tractor repair shop. Richard was also a volunteer fire fighter for Allen Fire and Rescue, a paramedic and drove the ambulance for many years. He worked for the town of Allen on the garbage disposal truck team and other maintenance jobs for the town. Richard’s hobbies included hunting and fishing and watching old country westerns; Gunsmoke, Cheyenne, Wagon Train, The Rifleman and Rawhide to name a few. Many will remember Richard by his nickname Julio; as he was very well known around Allen and would do anything for anybody. He is survived by his brother DeWayne M. (Vickie) Davenport of Thomson, Georgia; his sister Melodie (John) Warner of Kansas City, Kansas; nieces and nephews DeWayne (Jessie) Davenport Jr., Rebecca (Brent) Wolfe, Megan Warner, Matthew Warner and 5 grand nieces. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice and Lillian Davenport and his brother, Donnie Davenport. In lieu of flowers the family wishes to direct memorials to The Allen Fire and Rescue Department, 201 S. Harrison, Allen, NE 68710.
