Patrick Albert Gorman

Patrick Albert Gorman, age 70, of Yankton, South Dakota, died Tuesday, August 11, 2026, after a short battle with cancer, at Avera St. Michael’s Hospital in Tyndall, South Dakota.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM, on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Yankton, South Dakota, with Reverend Bob Lacey officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Yankton. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Friday, August 14, 2026, at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton with a rosary and vigil service at 7:00 PM. The Mass will be live streamed and can be viewed at www.facebook.com/WintzRay.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Avera Cancer Institute in Yankton or to Avera St. Michael’s Hospital in Tyndall.

Patrick Albert Gorman was born September 23, 1955, in Pickstown, South Dakota, to Franklin and Deloris (Thill) Gorman. He was one of 14 children. He attended grade school in Lake Andes and Tyndall, South Dakota, graduating from Tyndall-Tabor High School in 1973. He then attended the University of South Dakota and Mount Marty University, graduating with a BA in Business Administration. He moved to Yankton and worked for Consolidated Business Products, AB Dick Products, Ferrellgas and then 22 years with Prince Manufacturing. After his retirement he worked part-time for AutoZone in Yankton.

Pat was a generous, loving, independent, and dependable man, who was always there when you needed him. He loved being with his family whether it was fishing, playing cards, especially pinochle or scat or just being together. He never met a stranger and enjoyed spending time with his friends. He was very proud of all of his nieces and nephews and loved getting to see them at family gatherings. He had a great sense of humor and will be deeply missed.

Survivors include his 11 brothers and sisters: Sharon Wagner, Chuck (Cherie) Gorman, Dianne Walters, Linda (Bill) Specht, Daniel (Audrey Caine) Gorman, Mary (Cliff) Jorgenson, Michael (Cynthia) Gorman, Peggy (Dan) Scherschligt, Tim (Katrena) Gorman, Lisa (Bill Michalak) Gorman, and Kimberly (Jenn Thompson) Gorman; best friend, Patrice Weisser; and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Deloris Gorman; two brothers: Richard and David Gorman; great niece, Emmy Gorman; and two brothers-in-law: Tom Wagner and Terry Walters.
