Norman Sudbeck, age 92 of Hartington, Nebraska died on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at the Arbor Care Center in Hartington.

Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Hartington, Nebraska, with Rev. Owen Korte officiating. Burial will be at the St. Michael’s Cemetery in Hartington, Nebraska. Visitation will be from 5-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at the Church with a vigil service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Wednesday morning one hour prior to services. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington, Nebraska. 

Pallbearers will be Skyler Sudbeck, Myles Sudbeck, Clay Backer, Chris Lammers, Ryan Boeckman, Luke Sudbeck, Cortney Becker, and Molly Norgren. Honorary Pallbearers will be his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

 Norman Gerald Sudbeck was born on March 8, 1932 in Bow Valley, Nebraska to Paul Hubert and Frances Mary (Thoene) Sudbeck. He attended a country school near Bow Valley and then finished elementary school in Bow Valley. After school, he worked on the farm with his parents. He married Delores Erna Kathol on October 20, 1954 in Bow Valley.  He and Delores lived with his parents for a year before buying a farm east of Wynot.  Norman and Delores farmed there until 1998 when they built a house in Hartington.    Norman continued to help on the farm until he was 89 years old.

 Norman was a member of St. James Parish from 1955 until it closed.  He was an E.M.E., church lector, a former parish council and school board member.  After joining Holy Trinity Parish in Hartington he became a Knights of Columbus member, and held an hour of adoration for many years. Norman was involved with the Ministry of Praise and the Holy Name Society. Doc had a love for baseball where he played for many years and also coached and managed the youth teams. He was a longtime Red Sox fan.   Norman also enjoyed a good game of cards. Norman loved his wife Delores, his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. His faith, family, and farming were his passions to a very successful life.  

 Norman is survived by his wife Delores of Hartington; 9 children: Rick (Tricia) Sudbeck of Loveland CO, Gerald Sudbeck of Hartington, Kathy (Joe) Lammers of Hartington, Keith G. (Charlene) Sudbeck of Wynot, Sidney (Terri) Sudbeck of Hader, Karen (Mick) Boeckman of Wynot, Marcel (Deb) Sudbeck of Norfolk, Annette (Cecil) Williams of Crescent, OK; Nancy (Todd) Becker of Yankton, SD; 32 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; sister Jean Stratman of St. Helena; sister-in-law, Jolene Sudbeck of Hartington. 

Norman is preceded in death by his parents, Paul & Frances Sudbeck; a brother Allen Sudbeck; 2 sisters and spouses: Mildred (Norbert) Bracht, Maureen (Arthur) Kathol; brother-in-law, Kenneth Stratman; grandson, John Lammers; great-grandchild, Spencer Lammers.
