Nancy Esther Doering was born November 23, 1945, at home in Menno, South Dakota, to Marvin and Esther (Hertz) Huber. She grew up in Menno and graduated from Menno High School. She attended Methodist School of Nursing in Mitchell, South Dakota graduating in 1966. Nancy always talked about the first time she met Dennis at the beer garden in Menno and may or may not have chased him with a broom. Nancy and Dennis Doering wed on July 25, 1968. While traveling around the country for Dennis’ naval career, Nancy practiced nursing at various local nursing facilities. In 1977, they moved to the family farm near Viborg, where Nancy enjoyed getting her hands dirty gardening and tending to the farm. They purchased “The Sticks Bar” near Viborg, where they made many lifelong friends and jammed out frequently to Old Time Rock & Roll. Nancy was never able to sit idly-by while that song was playing. Over the years, Nancy and Dennis were joined at the hip for any adventure, farm chore, or trip.

Nancy was a simple woman who enjoyed the simple things in life. She delighted in camping, attending her grandchildren’s sports events, watching jackrabbit football games, staying tuned into travel TV, and socializing with some cold ones. Nancy was a proud American who loved her country and everything red, white, and blue. She was a passionate supporter of the US military, an avid Toby Keith fan, and especially loved celebrating her favorite holiday, the 4th of July. Her patriotism was a cherished part of who she was. She always kept everyone on their toes with her unrelenting quick wit. She will forever be remembered for her warm demeanor, jubilant laughter, and her quirky comments.

Survivors include her two children: Stephani (Jim) Reinhardt of Marion and Brett (Shana) Doering of Alcester, South Dakota; eight grandchildren: Ty (Mindy) Soulek, Kellen Soulek, Jessica Reinhardt, Emily Reinhardt, Shenia (Gabe) King, Gavin (Jordyn) Doering, Jaxon (Ellie) Doering and Elly Doering; four great grandchildren: Creed, Booker, Maya and Piper; and her sister, Marilee Hauck.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dennis on May 7, 2000, and two brothers: Freddie and Bill Huber.
