Mary Ann was born on October 9, 1931 in Menominee, Nebraska to Nicky and Frances (Schroeder) Meyer. Mary Ann has lived in the Menominee and Crofton area all of her life. She received her GED in 1993 and was proud of this accomplishment. She met George Joseph Jansen at a dance and they later were married on May 29, 1952 in Menominee. They raised five children Jane, Renee, David, Lynn and Dawn.

Mary Ann was admired for her kindness and dependability, often lending a hand to families with household chores and caring for children—especially when a new baby arrived. Her first job outside the home, in the late 60s and early 70s was as a cocktail waitress and bartender at Bogner’s Steakhouse, all while taking on cleaning work in area homes. She frequently helped George on their farm, located four and a half miles north of Crofton. Her commitment to service later extended to roles as a housekeeper at Sister James Nursing Home and as a waitress in several restaurants in Yankton, South Dakota. Ever active and engaged in her community, Mary Ann also volunteered with Meals on Wheels at the Crofton Senior Center.

Mary Ann was a devoted member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and later St. Rose of Lima in Crofton. She actively participated in the Christian Mothers and the Ladies Guild, reflecting her deep faith and community involvement. Mary Ann had a lifelong love for flowers, crocheting, quilting, and tending a large garden. She enjoyed interior house painting and was an avid bowler well into her 80s, proudly competing in numerous State Bowling Tournaments.

She is lovingly remembered by her five children: Jane Galloway of Knoxville, TN; Renee (Tom) Hoile of Norfolk; David (Kim) Jansen of Muir, PA; Lynn (Jim) Schieffer of St. Helena; and Dawn (Ted) DeTurk of Ames, NE. Her legacy lives on through seven grandsons, two granddaughters, and 12 great-grandchildren. Mary Ann is also survived by her brother, Melvin (Janice) Meyer of Omaha; sisters Dee (Darold) Paulson of Crofton and Eileen List of Pierre, SD; sister-in-law Cardi Meyer of Tea, SD; sisters-in-law Clara Rolfes of Wynot and Lorraine Schulte of Hartington; as well as many cherished nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Nicky and Frances Meyer; husband George on November 24, 1988 at the age of 61 years; son-in-law Doug Galloway; three brothers Larry, Delmar, and Dennis Meyer; sister Alverda Ankeny; brothers-in-law Dale List and Jim Ankeny; sister-in-law Karen Meyer.
