Marvin was born May 9, 1942 in Mitchell, South Dakota to Fred and Alice (Leaf) Plooster. He grew up on a farm near New Holland, SD where he attended country school until the eighth grade. On November 5, 1960, Marvin married Barbara Lapour in Geddes, SD. To this union they brought seven wonderful children into this world. After their marriage, they resided in the Geddes area prior to relocating to the Yankton area, where Marvin worked as farmer, truck driver, and carpenter in and around the Yankton area. After this time, he then began working for Goeden Construction until he started his own construction business in the mid 1990’s which he operated until he retired. Marvin loved buying old homes, fixing them up and selling them. He was always a hard worker and enjoyed working in the fields and with the cattle. Marvin also loved hunting, fishing, camping, dancing and playing cards. He enjoyed watching NBA basketball, mostly the LA Lakers as one of his favorite past times. Marvin loved his family above all else and treasured the time spent with them.

Marvin is survived by his wife of nearly 65 years, Barbara Plooster of Yankton; five children: Tammy Earl of Yankton, Karla (Mike) Kolbeck of Volin, SD, Brenda (Greg) Schmidt of Utica, SD, Douglas Plooster of Yankton, and Deb (Jim) Palmer of Yankton; son-in-law, Dean Becker of Yankton; 18 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren with one on the way; and numerous nieces and nephews.
