Mark A. Stucky, age 66, of Walsenburg, Colorado and formerly of Yankton, South Dakota, died on Monday, December 15, 2025 at his home.
A memorial service for Mark will be held at 2:00 PM, on Friday, January 2, 2026 at Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton with Reverend Dani Jo Bierwagen officiating. Interment will be in the Garden of Memories Cemetery Columbarium in Yankton. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mark was born April 20, 1959 in Yankton, South Dakota to Kenneth Sr. and Doris (Olsen) Stucky. He grew up in Yankton and graduated from Yankton High School in 1977. Mark always enjoyed the outdoors, from weekend campouts while fishing at Kelly’s Cove with his brothers as a young man to hunting trips to the Black Hills with the guys. It was always a good time with lots of laughs when you hung out with Mark. He had a great sense of humor, a quick wit, and was KING of the one liners. Mark had such an infectious laugh and would light up the room. There was never a dull moment when you were with Mark.
Mark’s family and close friends have so many fun memories together, from shooting fireworks out of the side of his van while driving down Broadway to having beers in the garage or Sunday Fundays poolside when he lived at the Kochi apartment complex. Mark’s proudest moment was when his son, Brady Allen was born October 9, 1997. Mark met his wife, Geena Knode while working at the Human Services Center in Yankton. They began dating in 2010 and were married February 14, 2012. Mark was Geena’s rock and he always put her first and made sure she was well taken care of. Mark and Geena loved going 4 wheeling, pheasant hunting and fishing together. They also enjoyed their time on the boat and relaxing together at the dock.
Mark began his working career bartending at Happy Jacks Supper Club at a young age, then later bartending at the Black Steer where he enjoyed socializing with his regular customers. In 1996, Mark began working at the Human Services Center as a Security Tech on the Intensive Treatment Unit where he was very good at de-escalating problems within the hospital. Mark could always be counted on to protect and keep his fellow coworkers safe. Mark later worked in the outside yard at Menards before going into security at Vishay Dale Electronics. In 2021, Mark and Geena moved to Walsenburg, CO where they resided until his death. Mark was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by so many.
Mark is survived by his wife, Geena Stucky of Walsenburg, CO; son, Brady Allen Stucky of Omaha, NE; three step children: Andrew Knode of Sioux Falls, SD, Erica Knode (Tony Ensz) of Cañon City, CO and Amanda Knode (Jeremy Davis) of Pueblo, CO; five siblings: Karen (Jeff) LeRoss of Cottage Grove, MN, Stephen (Robyn) Stucky of Yankton, Kenneth Jr. (Debbie) Stucky of Yankton, Teresa Termansen of Yankton, and Jim (Michelle) Stucky of Yankton; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth Sr. and Doris (Olsen) Stucky; brother-in-law, Kim Termansen; mother-in-law, Marilyn Soland; paternal and maternal grandparents; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
