Marilyn R. Rastede, age 69 of Yankton, South Dakota, died on Monday, November 11, 2019 at the Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton. Funeral services will be on Friday, November 15, 2019 at 10:30 am at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hartington, NE with Rev. Amanda Talley officiating. Burial will be in the Hartington City Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday, from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services on Friday, at church. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington. Pallbearers will be Stefani Millie Grant, Todd Fluent, Troy Fluent, Ed Bottolfsen, Don Bottolfsen, and Ellis Nelson. Marilyn Rae Rastede was born on March 23, 1950 in Hartington, NE to Otto and Alvera (Nelson) Klanderud. She grew up in the Obert area and graduated from Obert High School. After high school, Marilyn attended Wayne State College and received her Bachelor of Education degree. She taught at several schools in the surrounding area for over 40 years. While teaching, Marilyn took graduate classes at the University of South Dakota and received her Master of Education and Library Science degree. On July 7, 1991, Marilyn married Tom Rastede at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Laurel, NE. Marilyn enjoyed reading, watching movies, and taking care of her flower garden and lawn. She was involved in the National Education Association, the Nebraska State Education Association, and was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hartington. Marilyn is survived by her husband Tom Rastede of Yankton, SD; two sisters Karen (Frank) Wosika of Barstow, CA, Elaine (Clyde) Millie of Sioux City, IA; brother Mark (Val) Klanderud of Omaha, NE; brother-in-law Emmett Fluent; nieces Annette Robinson, Stefani (John) Millie Grant, Tammy (Dave) Bogema, Dotty (Jim) Zelony; step-niece Danya (Chris) Banning; nephews Todd (Karla) Fluent, and Troy (Carol) Fluent. She was preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Alvera Klanderud; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harvey and Dorothy Rastede; sisters-in-law, Patricia Fluent and Janice Schmitt.
