Marian A. Neu

Marian A. Neu, age 91 of Hartington, Nebraska died on Wednesday, November 12, 2025 at the Arbor Care Center in Hartington.

A private Memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial of her cremated remains will be at the Coleridge City Cemetery next to her husband, Pastor Robert Neu. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington.

Marian Alice Neu, daughter of Ede and Edith Christjans, was born on July 27, 1934 in Avon, South Dakota.

Marian grew up in Avon, South Dakota and graduated from the local high school. She attended Yankton College for a year. She married Rev. Robert G. Neu on June 9, 1954 in Avon. Marian and Robert first lived in Bazine, KS where Robert served as pastor of St. Paul Congregational Church. In September of 1955, they moved to Gregory, SD where he was minister of the Union Congregational Church until 1963. They then relocated to Coleridge, NE where Robert was minister of the Pilgrim Congregational Church until 1981. Robert then had additional ministerial positions in Bayard, NE and Hartington, NE until retiring in 2003.

Marian was very active in her role as a minister’s wife serving her husband’s churches and being an involved community volunteer. She was an avid Nebraska Cornhusker fan, a lover of classical music, and especially enjoyed spending time with her sons and grandsons.

Marian is survived by sons Robert and wife Vera Mariner of Minneapolis, and Randy of Hartington; two grandsons, Jeremy and Tyler (Sarah) Neu of Bellevue, Nebraska; and brother Jim (Jean) Christjans of Avon, South Dakota; and many nieces and nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

She was preceded in death by husband Robert, and brother Donald Christjans and wife Carol.
