Linnea Ann (Carr) Stein was born November 22, 1930 to Archie and Tina (Schwarz) Carr in Sioux City, Iowa.  In 1944, her family moved to Bloomfield, Nebraska and Linnea graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1948.  Following graduation, Linnea taught country school at the Rural School District 106 north of Bloomfield.  Linnea married Robert Stein on January 28, 1951 at First Trinity Lutheran Church in Bloomfield, where they were both confirmed members.  Together they farmed on the family farm southwest of Bloomfield and raised five children: Randall Lynn, Tamara Jean, Royce Allen, Annette Marie, and Jayne Louise.  Linnea helped on the farm and always had a big garden. She also worked at the Bloomfield Elementary School as the librarian. After they retired from the farm in 1991, they moved to Kohles Acres in the Lewis and Clark Lake area. Bob and Linnea enjoyed traveling to many state capitols and had many fishing vacations to Minnesota after they retired.  In 1999, they moved to Yankton, South Dakota.

She was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Yankton participating in the Over 50 Group, Quilters, and Funeral Committee for many years.  Linnea and Bob also volunteered at the Corps of Discovery Welcome Center for six years.  Linnea was very good at sewing and quilting.  She made clothes for her children and a lot of quilts for her children and grandchildren.  Linnea was known to her grandchildren as Grandma “Nae”.   She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother, who was very proud of her family. She enjoyed reading, playing cards and board games, doing crossword and word search puzzles.  Her husband, Robert passed away in 2020.

She leaves behind her children: Randy (Deb) Stein, Tami (Bill) Cook, Royce (Nina) Stein, Annette (Neal) Seagren, and Jayne (Paul) Jensen; 10 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren.

Welcoming her in heaven are her parents; husband; parents-in-law, Alfred and Lillie Stein; sisters and brothers-in-law: Delores (Maynard) Worley, Arlin (Chris) Wulf, and Ramona (Paul) Wearne.

Condolences may be sent to Tami Cook, 1007 West 14th Street, Yankton, SD 57078.
