Linda Olsen

Linda L. Olsen, age 86 of Coleridge, Nebraska died on Thursday evening September 3, 2026 at Park View Haven Nursing Home in Coleridge.

Funeral services will be on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Coleridge with Deacon Brandi Painter officiating. Burial will be at Lawn Ridge Cemetery in Coleridge. Visitation will be on Tuesday, at church, from 9:30-11:00 a.m. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home in Coleridge.

Pallbearers will be her grandchildren – Monte Olsen Jr., Mallory Miess, Luther Olsen, Taylor Neel, Shelby Asmus, Aaron Olsen, Ross Olsen, and Keely Lingenfelter.

Linda Lorraine was born in Newcastle, Nebraska on August 8, 1940 to Frederick M. and Violet M. (Stolpe) Lofgren. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She graduated from Coleridge High School and then from Wayne State College with a Teaching Degree and Masters in Education. Linda taught for 40 years – three in Laurel and 37 years in Coleridge.

Linda married Sylvan Olsen on August 7, 1960 in Coleridge at the Immanuel Lutheran Church. They enjoyed being married for 60 years. She enjoyed helping raise and spend time with her boys and later with her grandchildren. Linda enjoyed quilting and sewing. At 17 years of age as a senior in high school, she won a purple ribbon at the state fair. She also won the opportunity to go to Chicago to show off her talents for a week and showed off the dress she sewed there. Linda enjoyed hauling her grandchildren around in her little blue car. She was always making something in her kitchen – her rolls and chocolate chip cookies were favorites! She enjoyed traveling to visit her family farther away and evening drives with friends. She liked to play cards with friends and family. Linda attended church regularly. She was a former council member and went to circle regularly as well. Linda enjoyed retirement and liked Friday socials with her old teacher friends.

Linda is survived by her three sons and spouses Monte C. (Jill) Olsen of Grandview, MO, Kirk S. (Sharon) Olsen of Coleridge, Mike D. (Denise) Olsen of Coleridge, eight grandchildren – Monte/Jill’s – Monte Jr (Lindsay) Olsen, Mallory (Chris) Miess, and Luther Olsen; Kirk/Sharon’s – Taylor (James) Neel, Shelby (Shane) Asmus, Mike/Denise’s Aaron Olsen, Ross Olsen, Keely (Dylan) Lingenfelter; great grandchildren Grace, Kellar, Lily, Asa, Amariyah, Anora, Kolbie, Bryer, Sage, Skye, Sylvy, Bristol and one on the way; sister-in-law Kathy Lofgren.

She was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Violet Lofgren, husband Sylvan “Ole” Olsen on 11/18/2020 at the age of 82 years; in-laws Murl (Bernice) Olsen, Brother Ron Lofgren; sister Jean and brother-in-law Jack Sorensen; sisters and brothers-in-law Don (Marcia) Feelhaver, Duane (Yvonne) Dirks.
