Lila Mae Martin

Lila Mae Martin age 97 died May 13, 2026 in Texas surrounded by her family.

Memorial Services will be on Saturday, August 29, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hartington, Nebraska with the Rev. Amanda Talley officiating. Burial of her cremated remains will be at the Hartington City Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends one hour prior to services. Arrangement are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington.

She was born on October 6, 1928, in Concord, Nebraska, to Axel and Sylvia Anderson. She was preceded in death by her husband of 74 years, Jack Martin, in 2022.

Lila Mae was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, mother-in-law, aunt, and friend whose life was marked by faith, strength, compassion, and deep love for her family. She shared many cherished years with her husband, Jack Martin, building a family legacy that continues through generations. Together, they founded Lila Mae’s House, a refuge and rehabilitation ministry for victims of sex trafficking.

More than anything, Lila Mae treasured her family. She leaves behind a legacy of love, perseverance, kindness, and deep faith that will continue to guide and inspire all who knew her. Her presence brought humor, warmth, and steadiness to those around her, and she will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

She is survived by her children: Randy Martin and his partner in life, Judy Harmon; Rick Martin and his wife, Marla; Rob Martin and his wife, Debby; and Renee Martin. Renee’s husband, Tomas, preceded Lila Mae in death in 2024; she is survived by her sister Vandalyn.

Lila Mae was the proud grandmother of 13 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Her family includes Randy Martin’s children: Aubrey (children Trinity and Trace); Ashley (children Mia, Tucker, Emelyn, and Maverick); Amy (children Ollie and Marley, and stepdaughter Abby). Amy recently passed away at the age of 41 after a courageous battle with cancer; and twin sons Adam (children Corinne and Ruthie) and Aaron (children Miracle, Maliyah, Luca, and Mikel). Rick and Marla Martin’s children include Jennifer (children Jordyn, Lauren, and Mackenzie); Jeremiah (children Makayla, Maci, and Miley); and Jessica (children Tyler and Natalie). Rob and Debby Martin’s children include Indiana (children Mack and Rhett), Dakota, and Montana (daughter Paisley). Renee’s children include Nigel (son Axel) and Nicki (daughter Emilia).

Lila Mae was the second oldest of three daughters and had a younger half-brother, Larry. She was preceded in death by her sister, Gail, and half-brother Larry. She was also preceded in death by her dear friend, Barb Swanson.
