Lawrence "Larry" William Cwach

Lawrence "Larry" William Cwach, age 77, passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2018 in Cedartown, Georgia. Memorial services are 2:00 PM, on Monday, April 30, 2018 at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton with Reverend Ron Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Yankton. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the memorial service. Larry was born on August 29, 1940 in Yankton, South Dakota to Emil and Lillian (Hladky) Cwach. He grew up on the family farm near Yankton with his 10 older siblings, receiving the nickname, “Butch”. He attended Yankton High School where he played on the football team, graduating in 1958. He then attended University of South Dakota in Springfield, where he graduated with honors in 1962. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in mathematics and business and also excelled at wrestling. Larry married Janice Sachse on May 1, 1965 in Yankton, where they raised their four children. He worked at M-Tron as a data processing manager and then at Gurney’s as a programmer analyst, and also repaired televisions and farmed. Larry later moved to the Twin Cities where he married Sandra Carlson. They moved to Aurora, Colorado and then in 1987, Larry and Sandy moved to Georgia where they made their new home and had many happy years together. Larry continued to work as a programmer analyst and did accounting and various other jobs. He enjoyed living in Georgia, but always loved coming back to South Dakota to visit his family. He enjoyed farming, computers, TV, his pet cats, playing cards and drinking coffee with family. He was a kind, humble, intelligent man and will be greatly missed. Larry is survived by his wife of 35 years, Sandy Cwach of Cedartown, Georgia; two daughters, Shari (Dave) Kuehler of Yankton and Heather Cwach of Rapid City; two sons, Eric (Tonya) Cwach and Jason (Stacy) Cwach, both of Sioux Falls; two granddaughters, Kayli and Jenna Cwach of Sioux Falls; four sisters, Doreen Giggee, Lillian Merkwan, Florence Meehl, and Frances (Marvin) Meier; a brother, Emil (Marlin) Cwach Jr.; and many nieces and nephews. Larry was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Leo Sr. and Robert Cwach; and three sisters, Helen Nedved, Mary Schwartz, and Edna Juran.
