LaVerda Ann Eickhoff, age 88, of South Sioux City, Nebraska, died Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at Unity Point Health – St. Luke’s Hospital in Sioux City, Iowa.

Visitation will be from 1:00 to 3:00 PM on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton, South Dakota. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery following the visitation on Saturday.

LaVerda Ann Eickhoff was born March 4, 1937, in Yankton, South Dakota, to John and Ida (Arens) Eickhoff. She grew up on the farm in rural Crofton, Nebraska. She graduated from Mount Marty High School in Yankton, South Dakota and began working at American State Bank in Yankton. She was married and had two children: Brenda and Rhonda. She raised her family on the farm near Crofton and then decided to go to college as a non-traditional student. She graduated from Yankton College with as Associates Paralegal Degree and then graduated from the University of South Dakota in Vermillion with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice. She also furthered her education in a graduate program while at USD. She moved to South Sioux City, Nebraska and worked in marketing at MCI. In her free time she enjoyed dancing, gardening, flowers and baking.

Survivors include her two daughters: Brenda Elsasser of Fremont, Nebraska and Rhonda (Kevin) Schieffer of rural Crofton, Nebraska; three grandchildren: Megan (Levi) Schreiner, Amanda (J.R.) Munson, and Ryan (Ciara) Lammers; as well as four great grandchildren: Malachi, Wyatt, Josie, and Kate.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one sister.
