Larry "Lawrence" Sweet

Larry “Lawrence” Sweet, age 55, of Yankton, South Dakota, died Thursday, June 19, 2025, at his home in Yankton.

A memorial service will be 2:00 PM on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton, South Dakota with Pastor Errin Mulberry officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the memorial service at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home.

Larry “Lawrence” Sweet was born October 2, 1969, in Cedar Falls, Iowa, to Larry and Barbara Sweet. He grew up in Iowa and moved to Blue Earth, Minnesota, where he graduated from Blue Earth High School in 1988. He then attended Southwest Minnesota State, where he received his bachelor’s degree. He married Megan Lunde on August 15, 1992, and they moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota, where Lawrence worked various jobs in the area. He moved to Vermillion, South Dakota in 2012 and then to Yankton, South Dakota in 2014.

Lawrence was a faithful, man of God, who loved cheering for the Kansas City Chiefs and the Minnesota Twins. He enjoyed running and competed in many 5Ks and marathons. He also participated in many play productions for the Dakota Theatre and loved spending time with his son, Xander, fiancé, Heather and cat, Luna.

Survivors include his son, Xander Sweet of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; fiancé, Heather Craft of Yankton; mother, Barbara Sweet of Florida; best friend, Shane Sweetland; six brothers; one sister; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Larry Sweet Sr.
