Konrad Maibaum, age 93, of Crofton, Nebraska, died Thursday, November 21, 2024, at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton, South Dakota.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Crofton, Nebraska, with Reverend Marcus Knecht officiating. The Mass will be live streamed and can be viewed at www.facebook.com/WintzRay. Burial will be in St. Rose Cemetery in Crofton. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Monday, November 25, 2024, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church with a rosary at 7:00 PM. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home in Crofton, Nebraska.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons: Lathan, Derek, Kyle, Braston, Steven, and Tom Maibaum, Kalen Dittrich, Brayden Mellem, Justin, Tyler, and Alex Potts. Honorary Pallbearers will be his granddaughters: Halle Hart, Abbey Maibaum, MaKenzie Mellem, Adelyn Maibaum, and Tracie Koch.
Konrad Maibaum was born August 4th, 1931 in Yankton, South Dakota to Joseph and Minnie (Junkerfeurborn) Maibaum. He grew up in Crofton, Nebraska on the family farm. He attended East Blyville Country and St. Rose of Lima Schools. Konrad began farming at 9 years and farmed his entire life which included custom farming for over 70 years. His sense of humor and one-liners will be deeply missed by everyone. His last few years of farming took on a supervisory role as he gave free advice to anyone that listened. Konrad married Darlene Foxhoven on August 26th, 1959 in Constance, Nebraska and was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Darlene Maibaum and his 8 children: Paul (Brenda) Maibaum, Jeff (Carla) Maibaum, Mike Maibaum, Mary (Jerry) Dittrich, Joseph (Laurie) Maibaum, Sandy (Jarod) Mellem, Nancy (Larry) Potts, and Bill (Andrea) Maibaum; 16 Grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren with one on the way; two sisters-in-law: Beat Poppe and Ruth Foxhoven and many nieces and nephews.
Konrad was preceded in death by his parents; infant grandson, Matthew Maibaum; his brother, Vern Maibaum and sister, Ann Maibaum Metz and many extended family members.
