Kirby Rohweder

Kirby Rohweder, age 86, of Yankton, South Dakota, died on Monday, March 9, 2026 at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton.

A celebration of Kirby’s life will be from 2:00 to 4:00 PM, on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at Fire & Ice Event Center at 3804 West 8th Street in Yankton. Burial will be held in the Bloomfield Cemetery in Bloomfield, Nebraska next to his wife, Gail. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Yankton.

Kirby Rohweder was born March 9, 1940 in Spencer, Iowa, to John and Marion (Steffen) Rohweder. Kirby worked his whole life in construction, mostly building chicken coops for chicken farms all over Nebraska. After he retired, he married Gail Montagne on February 28, 2003 in Yankton, South Dakota. He loved hanging out at Captain Norms and will be dearly missed by his Captain Norm’s family.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Gail.
