Kim F. Termansen was born a first-generation American to Danish immigrant parents, Frode and Marie (Lagoni) Termansen, on September 1, 1963. He grew up in Yankton and graduated from Yankton High School in 1981. He attended South Dakota State University for a short time before returning to Yankton and began working at Alumax. He married Teresa Stucky on May 23, 1987 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Yankton. Kim continued working at Alumax for 25 years in many various roles in the extrusion department until reaching a supervisory role as a foreman. He then was recruited by Wilson Trailer and became the first person to be hired as a supervisor from outside the company. He was later recruited by Dakota Trailer which later became Trail King, where he was very proud that he never missed a day of work. In 2020, he started working in the maintenance department at Lewis and Clark Behavioral Health, which he loved. August of 2023, Kim was diagnosed with Glioblastoma, which began his nearly 21 month long, faith led, battle against the disease. During this time the employees at Lewis and Clark went above and beyond to make sure Kim and his family were taken care of and his family is very grateful for their care and support.
Kim could find the humor in anything, he had a quick wit and a great sense of humor. He loved to have fun and was very proud of his 23 years of sobriety. Kim wanted to know how everything worked from a very young age. He was a planner and a path finder, he liked to be prepared for anything. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and putzing in his garage. Kim drove stockcars for several years, he enjoyed wrenching on his cars with his pit crew, and he also loved attending the races with his family. He was a fan of the Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Twins and loved sports. He never missed a sporting event of his kids or grandkids. He had a strong but quiet faith, was very proud of his Danish heritage, and loved visiting with his family from Denmark. Above all, he always put his family first and loved spending time with them. He will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his wife, Teresa Termansen of Yankton; three children: Jessica (George) Powell of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Rachel (Blake) Carda of Yankton and Tanner (Jessica Reinhardt) Termansen of Yankton; four grandchildren: Halle, Parker, Cooper and Hudson Carda; brother, Kurt (Michele) Termansen of Yankton; sister, Sue (Dennis) Burbach of Yankton; many relatives from Denmark; as well as several in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frode and Marie Termansen and mother and father-in law, Doris and Kenneth Stucky Sr.
