Judith Claire Buchanan

Judith Claire Buchanan age 71 of Sioux Falls, SD died on Friday, December 02, 2022 at the Good Samaritan Village of Sioux Falls, SD.  She was formerly of Hartington, Nebraska. A private family service will take place and burial of her cremated remains will be at the Hartington City Cemetery next to her parents L.J. "Jim" and Hazel Buchanan. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington. Judy Buchanan was born on December 15, 1950 to L. J. (Jim) and Hazel (Rodgers) Buchanan.  She was a graduate of Hartington High School and Yankton College, cum laude. From the time she was born, Judy struggled with schizophrenia.  As a consequence, she spent most of her adult life as a resident of several Good Samaritan facilities in South Dakota, her final one being in Sioux Falls where she passed away. Despite the circumstances. Judy made many friends at Good Sam, both members of the staff and other residents.  Judy was an avid reader and enjoyed a variety of crafts. Her family would like to thank everyone at Good Sam for their excellent care, friendship and support for Judy through the years. Judy is survived by her brother, Jim, of Omaha and her brother-in-law, Steve of Freedom, Pennsylvania.  She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Kitsy.  Memorials in her memory may be sent to Good Samaritan Village, Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
