Jessica Danyell Lorton

Jessica Danyell Lorton, age 31, of Tabor, South Dakota, died Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at Avera Sr. James Care Center in Yankton, South Dakota. No local services will be held.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Yankton, South Dakota. Jessica Danyell Lorton was born February 19, 1989 in Nacogdoches, Texas, to Tommy and Patricia Byrd.  She grew up in Joaquin, Texas and graduated from Joaquin High School in 2008.  She received her nursing degree and worked as a nurse for a few years in Texas.  She met Michael Lorton in 2011 and in 2012 moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota when Michael was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.  Jessica took care of Michael through his treatment and recovery and on 2014 they were married in Sioux Falls.  Their daughter Paisley was born on June 26, 2016.  They moved to Yankton, South Dakota where Jessica worked at Casey’s General Store.  She was diagnosed with cervical cancer in the spring of 2020. Survivors include her husband, Michael Lorton and daughter Paisley of Tabor; sister, Crystal (Justin) French of Omaha, Nebraska; two brothers: Chester (Katie) Byrd and Roy Byrd Jr. both of Texas; Grandma Frances Byrd of Center, Texas; nieces and nephews as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents.
