Jesse W. Wolf age 69 of Hartington, Nebraska died on Thursday, February 11, 2021 at his residence. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, February 19, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Hartington Nebraska with the Rev. Owen Korte officiating. Burial will be at approximately 2:30 pm at the St. Anthony’s Cemetery in Fairfax, South Dakota. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5:00 – 7:00 pm, AT CHURCH, with a vigil service at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services on Friday. Face masks and social distancing will be required at the funeral and visitation. Pallbearers will be Jim Wolf, Jared Wolf, Jon Wolf, Dave McGregor, Dave Rehnstrom, and Ken Kneifl Jesse Warren Wolf was born on May 6, 1951 to Dick and Evelyn (Pistulka) Wolf in Wagner, SD. He grew up north of Fairfax, SD and then moved to Atkinson, Nebraska during his sophomore year of high school. Jesse graduated from St. Joseph’s High School in Atkinson in 1969. He then attended Mount Marty University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology in 1973. Jesse continued his education in Norfolk, where he received his Master’s degree in Administration. After his schooling, Jesse taught in Mitchell, SD for a semester and then moved to Hartington, where he worked for the rest of his career, except for a six-year period when he served as the President of the Nebraska State Education Association in Lincoln, NE. On June 16, 1989, Jesse married Loxi Laber in Hartington, Nebraska. Jesse was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He was also very active in the senior citizen center in Hartington. He loved to dress up as Santa Claus around Christmas time and give out candy to children. He also enjoyed decorating for Christmas and making cookies and candies for all his nephews and nieces. Jesse enjoyed cooking, traveling with his family, history, and fishing. He passed on his love of fishing by buying all of his nephews lifetime fishing permits for their 16th birthdays. Jesse was a very talented athlete during high school. He was part of the basketball team and was a great runner. He was also an avid bowler and softball player. Jesse and Loxi were very giving people. They donated to multiple non-profit organizations and they set up a scholarship fund for Hartington students. Jesse was also very proud of his Native American Heritage. Jesse is survived by his wife, Loxi of Hartington; brothers, Jack (Linda) Wolf of Atkinson, NE, Jay Wolf of Lincoln, NE; sisters-in-law, Loy (Dan) Herrboldt of Freeman, SD, Connie (Vern) Handel of San Antonio, TX, Loa (Marty) Arno of Vancouver, WA, Halee (Ron) Ribstein of Spearfish, SD; nephews, Jim (Erin) Wolf, Jared (Amy) Wolf, Jon (Hannah) Wolf; six great nieces, three great-nephews; aunts, Diane Williams, Dorothy Pistulka; and uncle, Don Hausmann. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant brother, Joseph Paul; infant sister, Sherry Jean; and Loxi’s parents, Leo and Dalphine Laber. We hope to have a video tape of the entire funeral mass for Jesse Wolf on this site.
