Jesse DeWayne Strong

Jesse DeWayne Strong, age 30, of Yankton, South Dakota, died unexpectedly on Sunday, July 21, 2019, at his home in Yankton. A memorial service will be 2:00 PM on Friday, July 26, 2019, at First United Methodist Church in Yankton with Reverend Ron Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the memorial service on Friday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Yankton. Honorary pallbearers are: Ian Dunham, Travis Root, Chuck Sterns, Jermiah Strong, Aaron King, Kevin Pelc, and Dylan Steffen. Jesse DeWayne Strong was born November 27, 1988, in O’Neill, Nebraska to Gavin and Marcia (Root) Strong. He grew up on O’Neill until his family moved to Springfield, South Dakota in 2001. He graduated from Bon Homme high School in 2009 and began working at Sapa Extrusions in Yankton. He then worked for Gehl, Shur-Co and lastly as a welder for Solid Metals in Yankton. He married his high school sweetheart, Anna Meredith in 2015 and together had two sons, Maddix and Paxtyn. Jesse loved music and was a very skilled musician. He loved to sing, playing the drums as well as the guitar. He was asked to become a member of the Soundsational Signers as a young boy and loved playing in the variety show in Springfield. He enjoyed skateboarding and doing anything outdoors, whether it was swimming, hiking or fishing. He was an outgoing man who loved being with his friends and would do anything for anyone. You knew you could always call on Jesse if you needed help. He loved his children and was excited to meet his baby girl, Rylleigh Jo. Survivors include his three children: Maddix, Paxtyn and Rylleigh Jo; mother, Marcia Carmody of Yankton; father, Gavin (Renee) Strong of Springfield, South Dakota; grandparents: Lonnie and Shirley Root of Yankton and Carlyle “Bubbies” Strong of O’Neill, Nebraska; two sisters: Brittnee (Justin) Curtis of Yankton and Concee Strong of Gayville, South Dakota; two step-brothers: Jade Boone and Blake Howes; nieces and nephews: Jaiden, Landynn and Adelynn Curtis and Alex and Karmah Boone and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Sharon Strong; step-grandmother, Connie Strong; and uncle, Shaun Strong.
