James Lee Wohlman age 73 of Hartington, Nebraska died on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton, SD.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, December 5, 2022 at 10:30 am at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Hartington, Nebraska with Rev. Owen Korte officiating. Burial will be in the Hartington City Cemetery at a later date. Military honors will be provided by the Hartington VFW Post #5283 and the American Legion Riders. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2:00 – 4:00 pm with a vigil service at 3:00 pm at the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington. Visitation will continue on Monday, at church, one hour prior to services. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington, Nebraska.
Pallbearers will be Brett Mainquist, Brandon Mainquist, Harlen Grosskop, Melissa Wortmann, Ross Wortmann, Hunter Grosskop, Brad Olson, and Todd Knutson.
James was born on October 15, 1949 in Yankton, South Dakota to Kenneth Fae and Arlene Elizabeth (Hoesing) Wohlman. He grew up in the Hartington area and graduated from Cedar Catholic High School in 1967. After high school, James joined the Marines and served in Vietnam from 1968 – 1969. After returning from Vietnam, he went to school in Texas for operating heavy equipment. James worked as a hunting guide in Colorado & as a ranch hand in Wyoming. When he moved back to Hartington, he worked road construction for J. P. Theisen for several years. He spent over 20 years working as a machinist at Hydraulics. On October 3, 1992, James married Donna Mae Voll in St. Helena, Nebraska. James was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Hartington VFW Post #5283, Upper Missouri Ducks Unlimited chapter in Hartington, and taught hunter safety classes for over 30 years. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, and duck hunting. He also enjoyed watching old western movies and the history channel.
James is survived by his loving wife, Donna Wohlman of Hartington; step-daughter, Jodie Honner of Sioux Falls, SD; two sisters, Mary Grosskop of Lake of the Ozarks, MO, Connie (Bill) Mainquist of Hartington, NE; three nephews, one niece, and several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Lou Grosskop; and mother-in-law, Marjorie Crosley.
