Gerald was born in Cedar County on April 25, 1951 Fay and Erna (Vogt) Bobenmoyer. He attended country school on the hill next to the farm house.  Gerald attended school there until 7th grade when he had to begin school in Coleridge, Nebraska.  Gerald graduated from Coleridge, Nebraska and then attended University Nebraska in Curtis where he obtained a degree in Diesel Mechanics.  Gerald returned home to the farm where he lived on his farm his entire life.  Gerald started farming at a young age with his dad.  He farmed all his life and raised cattle.

Gerald married Betsy Hamilton on August 17th, 1997 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Randolph, Nebraska.  To this union came Elizabeth (Bobenmoyer) Guerrisky, chosen by Gerald to be his daughter through adoption.  Born to this union was Jarrett Fay Bobenmoyer to complete this family.  Though the marriage ended in 2007, Gerald and Betsy remained friends.

Gerald enjoyed square dancing, tractor pulling with friends, Nascar races, hunting and fishing, farming, welding, and his kids and family.  Some of Gerald’s favorite memories were receiving the 100 year Farm Award from Ak-Sar-Ben, taking Elizabeth to the sale barn and around town when she was younger. Gerald was proud that Elizabeth was in the United States Air Force.  Gerald was proud when Jarrett was born.  He enjoyed watching the kids grow up and graduate, teaching Jarrett to hunt and fish, going prairie dog hunting, and fishing in the New Castle area.

Survivors include friend and mother of his children, Betsy Bobenmoyer of Fort Pierce, Florida, Elizabeth (Bobenmoyer) Guerrisky of Charleston, South Carolina, Jarrett Fay Bobenmoyer of Randolph, Nebraska; his sister Joan Falke of Scribner, Nebraska.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents Fay A. and Erna Johanna (Vogt) Bobenmoyer of Coleridge.

The family would like to send a special thank you to Colin Milander for all of his help that allowed Gerald to remain at home and to Davita Dialysis of Norfolk, Nebraska for being his extended family and all the wonderful care they have provided him since 2018, and Dave Dowling for all of his valuable and much appreciated assistance.
