Elizabeth F. Wright, age 90, of Yankton, South Dakota, died on Thursday, July 18, 2019 at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton. Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 AM, on Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Yankton with Reverend Larry Regynski officiating. Burial will be in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Yankton. Visitation is from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, on Tuesday, July 23 with a rosary at 6:45 PM, followed by a vigil service at 7:00 PM at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Yankton. Visitation continues one hour prior to the mass at the church. Pallbearers are Eric Hardy, Adam Hardy, Jay Wright, Shane Wright, Jordan Wright, Charles Austin, Josiah Hult, Cesar Juarez, and William Brehm. Honorary pallbearers are Leah Brehm, Stephanie Austin, Alyssa Hult, Elizabeth Juarez, Julia Wright, Jane Wright, and Paige Wright. Elizabeth was born October 10, 1928 on a farm near Freeman, South Dakota to Leon and Elizabeth (Heirigs) Weier. She attended country school and graduated from Freeman High School. She then graduated from Mount Marty College with an Associate’s Degree in Business. On August 29, 1951, Elizabeth married Keith L. Wright in Yankton. He was the love of her life, in a marriage that was truly meant to be. After their marriage, they lived in Yankton, Watertown, SD, Norfolk, NE, and then back to Yankton in 1969. Elizabeth then started working at Valley State Bank which is now First National Bank. She began as a teller and then became an officer, retiring in 2003. She also was the Classic Club Coordinator planning events and trips for the members. She continued organizing bus trips at The Center until 2005. Elizabeth was an active member of The Center and Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where she was an usher and also helped with the collection. Elizabeth was an avid reader, averaging about a novel a week. She loved playing cards, especially bridge. She enjoyed crocheting and made an afghan blanket for all her children and grandchildren. She was an excellent seamstress and cook. She was quick learner and could do virtually any house project. When she set her mind to do something, it got done. Elizabeth had a wonderful ability to laugh at herself. She was a sweet, kind-hearted lady with a bubbly personality and had a smile for everyone. Elizabeth is survived by her six children: Terry (Cindy) Wright of Little Rock, AR, Joan Wright of Yankton, Rich (Mary) Wright of Yankton, Tom (Deb) Wright of Brandon, SD, Lisa (Mark) Hardy of Yankton and Jeff (Laurie) Wright of Arvada, CO; 12 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Keith Wright on September 20, 2007; two brothers, Clem Weier and Walt Weier; and two sisters, Leona Hunzeker and Mary Hawks.
