Eleanor R. Juttelstad, age 85, of Yankton, South Dakota died on Tuesday, March 3, 2026 at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton.
Funeral services are 2:00 PM, on Saturday, March 7, 2026 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Yankton with Reverend Velma Larson officiating. Burial will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery in rural Volin, SD. Visitation is one hour prior to the funeral at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Yankton.
Eleanor was born August 2, 1940 in Akron, Ohio to Carl and Lucille (Ruggles) Dearth. When she was 12 years old, the family moved to Los Angeles, CA where she graduated high school. Eleanor married DeWayne King Sr. and to this union, three children were born, Tammi, Dawn and DeWayne Jr. They moved to Yankton in 1968 and Eleanor worked for Gurney’s Seed and Nursery for a few years before taking a job for the Clerk of Courts in Yankton. Eleanor married Louis Juttelstad on August 2, 1982 and together they had a son, Timothy. Eleanor continued working for the Clerk of Courts until she retired in 1999. While working for the Clerk of Courts, she also began selling for Mary Kay Cosmetics.
Eleanor loved all animals and especially enjoyed the company of her dogs. She also enjoyed camping, shopping, crocheting, and going on road trips. Eleanor was an avid reader. She was a kind and loving lady who stood up for what was right and always rooted for the “little guy”. She was deeply loved and will be missed.
Eleanor is survived by three children: Dawn (Tony) Anderson of Yankton, DeWayne King Jr. of Yankton, and Tim Juttelstad of Des Moines, IA; eight grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild on the way; three siblings: Pam (Eddie) Burr of California, Pat Ruggles of Nevada, and Carl Dearth of California; and several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Juttelstad; daughter, Tammi King; great granddaughter, Kayleigh Ptak; great grandson, Anthony Anderson and close friends, Charlotte Lowell and Yvonne Sears.
