Edwin T. Meyer, age 83 of Hartington, Nebraska died on Thursday, November 6, 2025 at Avera Sister James Care Center in Yankton, SD.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, November 12, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Hartington with the Rev. Owen Korte officiating. Burial will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery in Hartington. Visitation will be on Wednesday morning from 9-10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Church. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington.
Pallbearers will be Bob Meyer, Larry Meyer, Steve Meyer, Wayne Bena, Roger Bonertz, Brandon Clausen, and Chace Clausen.
Edwin Theodore was born at home on Dec. 27, 1941 at Hartington NE. He was Baptized and confirmed at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Hartington. NE. Ed attended Holy Trinity High School graduating in 1961. After High School, he worked at the Human Service Center in Yankton where he met his wife Betty Eidsness. They were married on August 8, 1970 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Ed worked various job and in July 1988 he was hired as custodian for Holy Trinity Grade School where worked for over 30 years, retiring in May 2022. Ed and Betty weren’t blessed with any children, but Ed called the kids at school his kids. He loved to attend Holy Trinity & Cedar Catholic sports & school events. The Chicago Clubs were his & Betty’s favorite team.
Ed was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, an EME, and held a holy hour for many years. Due to health issues, Ed entered Majestic Bluffs in June 2024.
Ed is survived by a brother and sister-in-law Bill (Pat) Meyer, Hartington, NE; sister-in-law Mary Meyer, Moorhead, MN, and brother-in-law Harry Eidsness, Canton, SD; nieces and nephews: Lisa Madarassy, Larry (Shelli) Meyer, Bob (Wendy) Meyer, Jodie (Rick) McCoy, Jill (Wayne ) Bena, Amanda (Joe) Potts, Brenda (Brent) Srejma, Peggy (Andy) Meyer, Steve (Amy) Meyer.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Sarah Meyer; wife Betty on November 2, 2005; two brothers Jerry and Ken Meyer; sisters-in-law Alice Meyer & Diane Eidsness; niece Cheryl Meyer, and great nephew James Martinez.
In lieu of Flowers, donations can be made to Holy Trinity Grade School or Hartington Senior Center in Ed’s memory.
