She grew up in the St. Helena area and went to District 57 Country School and then graduated from Holy Trinity High School in Hartington. Donna married Alfred Conrad Boecker on July 26, 1962 in St. Helena, NE. They had six children – Sheryl, Maureen, Lorraine, Loren, Connie, and Amy when Alfred died on June 18, 1975 at the age of 33 due to an accident. Donna then married Vern Joseph Maibaum on September 15, 1978 in Crofton, NE. To this union a son, Tony was born. Donna was a member of the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, its ladies Guild and the American Legion Auxiliary. She loved cooking, gardening, canning, helping on the farm and bird watching. She loved hunting with family and got her last deer at the age of 70. Donna had various part-time jobs over the years but, more than anything, lived and loved her full-time job of “homemaker.” She was very well-known for two things: being “Grandma D” to countless individuals (embracing many young souls as her grandchildren) and her constant pursuit of the Lord’s love for herself and for others - often stating, “God is soooo good.” Donna is survived by her son Tony and wife Angela Maibaum in Yankton, SD; four daughters and spouses Maureen & Terry Woockman of Crofton, Lorraine & Dan Arens of Crofton, Connie & Ron Heine of Yankton, Amy & Pat Riesberg of Wayne, NE; son-in-law Ken and wife Dawn Mueller of Yankton, SD; 31 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; three great grandchildren on the way; two sisters Sharon (Jack) Halsted of Utica, SD, Arlene Foxhoven of Bloomingdale, OH; three brothers Randy Boehmer of Ash Fork, AZ, Larry (Judy) Boehmer of Woodstock, GA, Mike Boehmer of Wellington, CO; many nieces, nephews, and in-laws. She was preceded in death by her parents Alfred & Lucille Boehmer, two husbands Alfred Boecker, Vern Maibaum on March 11, 2006 at the age of 67 years; daughter Sheryl Mueller; son Loren Boecker; grandson Blake Woockman; sister Janice Whitinger; and brother Richard (Sharon) Boehmer.
