David Simmons

David Simmons, age 56, of Volin, South Dakota, died unexpectedly on January 30, 2020, from a heart attack while at work. As Dave requested there will be no formal service but a celebration of his life for friends and family will be at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Yankton, South Dakota. David Simmons was born May 31, 1963, to Russell and Elta (Radunz) Simmons. Dave was born and raised in Litchfield, Minnesota, and moved to Yankton, South Dakota, with his wife Pam in 1989. He was a truck driver for Nutrien Ag of Centerville, South Dakota, and in 2005 they moved to Volin, South Dakota. Dave loved to fish, camp, BBQ and spend as much time as he could outdoors. Dave’s final words would be: To his sister, Gayle and Tom Wexler he would say, “I make beer disappear. What’s your super power?” To his stepson Pete Weigel and wife April he would say, “You are my son and I love you both with all my heart…I found my File Guy.” And to his wife Pam, he would say, “The best part of my life was the 30 years I spent loving you and all the toys you bought me.” And Pam would say to him: “Wow 30 years…I let you hang around that long!?! I will miss you every minute of every day. You were my life and always will be.” Survivors include his wife, Pam Simmons of Volin; stepson, Pete (April) Weigel of Yankton; sister, Gayle (Tom) Wexler of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and niece and nephew: Megan Wexler and Craig Wexler. He was preceded in death by his parents and stepdaughter, Melissa Weigel. Condolences may be sent to P.O. Box 227, Volin, South Dakota 57072.
