Daniel A. Kaiser, age 88 of Crofton, Nebraska died on Sunday, March 18, 2018 surrounded by his family at the Good Samaritan Center in Bloomfield, Nebraska. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Crofton with the Rev. Timothy Podraza officiating. Cremation will occur after the Funeral Mass and his cremains will be buried at a later date at St. Boniface Cemetery in Menominee, NE. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4-8:00 p.m., at church, with a vigil service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Thursday one hour prior to services. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home in Crofton. Pallbearers will be Grandchildren, Jason Strom, Jeff Arens, Michael Arens, Jill Carnell, Jennifer Hoebelheinrich, Sarah Ramos, Ashley Kaiser, and Tiffeny Fletcher. Honorary pallbearers will be Marvin Goeden, Lawrence Zavadil, Duane Goeden, Francis Mueller, Darold Loecker and his baseball colleagues. Daniel A. Kaiser was born on July 6, 1929 in Crofton, NE to Frank and Marie (Tramp) Kaiser. He married Shirley Paulsen on August 25, 1953 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Crofton. They lived in Crofton where Danny farmed, milked cows, and raised hogs. Daniel and Shirley moved to Bloomfield in 1965 and he continued to farm and raise his family. Five children were born to this union, Debbie, Diane, Duane, Dennis and Dean. Dan retired in 1988 and moved back to Crofton. He was a Knox County Supervisor for 8 years and worked at Bomgaars for two years. Dan was an active member of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Bloomfield where he was on the board to help build the new church. He was then active in St. Rose of Lima parish. Dan’s favorite past times included hunting, fishing, and playing 30 point pitch. He played baseball for 29 years and coached the Crofton Crows. Dan even got to play with Bob Gibson one summer. Daniel is survived by his wife Shirley Kaiser of Crofton; five children and spouses Debbie (Myrle) Gilsdorf of Bloomfield, Diane (Clair) Arens of Crofton, Duane Kaiser of Crofton, Dennis Kaiser of Crofton, Dean (Carrie) Kaiser of Fruitland, Idaho; eight grandchildren Jason (Sarah) Strom, Jill & Garett Carnell, Jennifer & Todd Hoebelheinrich, Jeff & Kelsey Arens, Michael & Jessica Arens, Sarah & Victor Ramos, Ashley Kaiser & friend Scott, Tiffany & Cody Fletcher; 26 great grandchildren; brother Darold (Sheila) Kaiser of Cinncinati, OH; sister Dorothy Wiebelhaus of Omaha, brother Carrol (Corinne) Kaiser of Mauston, WI; brother Ronnie (Mary) Kaiser of Elroy, WI; brother-in-law Duane (Karen) Loecker of Crofton. Daniel was preceded in death by his parents Frank & Marie; sisters Lou Ellis and Shirley Loecker; brothers-in-law Wayne Ellis and Dennis Wiebelhaus.
