Craig “Bubba” Eastop, formally from Bellevue, Idaho and originally from Toledo, Ohio, passed away on October 1st in Yankton, South Dakota.
Craig was born on September 27, 1971 to proud parents Richard and Jeanne Eastop. He grew up on Drummond Road as only a feral child of the 70’s could…Be home when the street lights come on, forts in “The Woods” at St. Pius, Bike riding adventures with his beloved Snoopy Stuffy tied behind his bike in a shoebox and Lego creations that took over his room.
Craig graduated from St. Francis de Sales High School, where he was multi-sport varsity athlete in Soccer and Basketball. He went on to Miami (OH) University, where he obtained his teaching degree.
Bubba loved teaching and coaching.
His other work passion was cooking. Known to use every single pot and pan, he always made the biggest mess and the best food. Bubs also loved music and we know it brought him so much comfort and joy. He always had his speaker with him and it was tuned into whatever new eclectic band caught his ear. The Grateful Dead was always on the play list.
In his later years, Craig struggled with addiction and depression. Our greatest hope was that he could have won the battle and be the father to his two sons that we all knew he could have been. We ask that if you or anyone you know is struggling, please know your life matters.
Craig’s did.
We will miss his huge laugh and his big, kind heart.
We firmly believe he is finally at peace with our mom and they are both messing up God’s kitchen with their cooking.
A private celebration of life for family will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation in Craig’s memory to St Francis de Sales High School using the link www.sfsknights.org. Select “Give Now” at the bottom of the page.
