Chong Cha “Kim” was born on June 5, 1943 in Inchon, Korea to Kim PO and Kim Kyong (Cha) Yong. She grew up in Korea and attended school there. She married James Otto Meyer on June 3, 1972 in Friend, Nebraska. She and Jim made their home in Hartington. Kim loved to take care of their huge garden, raising flowers, roses, and every vegetable they could plant. She kept busy tending to the garden and canning, freezing all their produce. She loved to cook, but never followed a recipe. Kim often made her own BBQ sauce and other sauces. She and Jim raised over 600 chickens, just in one year, and continued to do that for many years.
Kim loved to fish up at the river and would sell her fish to Orville Sudbeck. She made a special “dough ball” that worked like a charm to catch carp and buffalo. Kim was a bargain hunter and enjoyed going to auctions to find new treasures. She would “wheel and deal” for a lower price at garage sales. Most of all, Kim loved the peace and quiet lifestyle of Nebraska that she and Jim shared together.
Kim is survived by her husband Jim of Hartington; two sisters and one brother; brother-in-law Bob (Michelle) Meyer of Guthrie, Oklahoma; sisters-in-law Bev Freng of Huron, SD, Pat Meyer of York, NE, and Tina Graffis of Oregon, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
