Carrol V. Lipp, age 100, of Laurel, Nebraska, died on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at his home in Laurel, Nebraska, surrounded by family.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, April 8, 2024, at the Faith Community Church at 302 Elm Street in Laurel, Nebraska, with Reverend Todd Thelen officiating. The funeral will be live streamed and can be viewed at www.facebook.com/wintzray. Burial will be at 2:00 PM on Monday in the Eastview Cemetery in Allen, Nebraska. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral on Monday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home in Laurel, Nebraska.
Pallbearers will be his great nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be his great nieces.
Carrol V. Lipp was born February 14, 1924, in Clarks Township in Dixon County, Nebraska, to Antone A. and Mary Catherine (Boeshart) Lipp. He grew up on the farm and attended Tip Top Country School and graduated from Laurel High School in 1941. He worked in various states over the years including: Nebraska, Minnesota, California, Oregon, Wyoming, Alaska, Missouri and Montana. He worked for over 13 years at Podolak Polled Hereford Ranch in Lusk, Wyoming and for over 20 years at Yellowstone Boys & Girls Ranch in Billings, Montana. When he was 70 years old he returned to Laurel and worked in construction and farming with his brother Art. He married Glendora “Tootie” Hanson Brittell on February 14, 2004 in Laurel.
Carrol was a member of the United Methodist Church in Laurel and the Laurel Senior Center. He was an excellent wood worker and made many crosses, baby cradles, rolling pins, children’s farm scenes, and over a hundred pool cues. He enjoyed playing pool and playing his harmonica, but he especially loved helping on the farm. He was a hardworking man, who had a sharp mind and remembered vast details about everything.
Survivors include his wife, Glendora “Tootie” Brittell Lipp of Laurel, Nebraska; step-son, Nick Brittell of Laurel; step-daughter, Iris (Curt) Peterka of Yankton, South Dakota; many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, extended family and a great many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and four brothers: Kenneth, Frank (Dorothy), Antone (Dorothy), and Arthur (Doris).
