Bonnie Grace (Jensen) Whatling was born September 30, 1932, in Chancellor, South Dakota to James P. and Alma (Quarg) Jensen. She attended school in the Yankton School System. She married Raymond S. Whatling on September 28, 1950 and together had three children. She grew up through the dirty thirties, as a matter of fact, she was raised with her eight brothers and sisters in a train box car that her parents sided and made into their home. She was a homemaker their 56 years of marriage.

One of her biggest enjoyments was rummage sales, the start of spring into fall, finding hidden treasures and visiting with all the other rummagers. At 92, she lived through a lot of history and saw the development of many things, from wars to new technology and inventions. As Tom Brokaw said, “The greatest generation!” And though she had a couple of huge disappointments in her life, her glass was always half full and she was thankful for every day of her life, it was inspiring!

Survivors include her daughter, Kat (Larry) Thranum of Yankton, brother, David J. Jensen of Black Hawk, South Dakota; grandchildren; great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Thank you mom (and dad) for our lives, none of us would be here without you both

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raymond S. Whatling; brothers: Keith, Lester, Jim, Gene “Smitty”, and Dennis Jensen; sisters: Cleo Lukes and Jacqueline Olson; and her dogs: Hannibal I, Hannibal II, Hannibal III, and Hannibal IV.

A heartfelt thankyou to Pam Stone (her niece) for all her love and support!
