Beverly was born on June 30, 1960 in Sioux City, Iowa to Milton and Carolyn (Schrad) Goddard. She was raised on the family farm in South Sioux City, Nebraska along with her six siblings. She attended Walker Island Country School and graduated from South Sioux City High School in 1978. Bev married Dennis Schmidt on August 16, 1980. They had just celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary on Saturday.
They began raising their family in Uehling, Nebraska and in 1987, the family moved to Yankton, South Dakota. While raising their four children, Bev began a child daycare in her home. For over 35 years, many children were lovingly cared for until they entered elementary school. Bev was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was very active in community activities and events. She had worked for over 20 years at Judi’s Dance Studio, The Green Room Dance Studio and Premiere Dance Center in Yankton. She was active as a Girl Scout Leader, 4-H Leader, and Catholic Daughters. Bev also served on numerous other committees in the community.
Bev’s love and devotion to her six grandchildren was endless and she loved spoiling them. She was very involved in their lives, taking them to swimming lessons, doing arts and craft projects with them, and watching them play sports. Bev loved the holidays, especially Christmas, where the house was overdone with decorations with each one having its own special place. Bev was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
