Ashley Rose Stratman was born April 11, 1983, in Yankton, South Dakota. She attended Yankton Public Schools, Children’s Care Hospital & School in Sioux Falls and ABS (Ability Building Services) in Yankton, South Dakota. With services, Ashley was able to live at home with her mother until her death. Ashley was known for her ability to share and to love unconditionally without words. Saint Francis of Assisi said to go spread the gospel, use words only if you must. Ashley did. Her smile lit up any room. Her love for the outdoors, especially the sun, was contagious. Ashley loved walks around the park, across the bridge, or anywhere outdoors. She saw to the depth of our soul and loved. She just enjoyed every opportunity life gave her. Family and friends made that possible by carrying her up and down steps and in and out of buildings, so she could be a part of gatherings.
She is survived by her mother, Sharon Stratman of Yankton; uncles, aunts and many many cousins: Andy and Hue Stratman of Scottsbluff, Nebraska; Ed and Janice Stratman of Cody, Wyoming; Rosanne Hoebelheinrich of Crofton, Nebraska; Karen and Dave Fitzpatrick of Omaha, Nebraska; Ron and Julie Stratman of Salina, Kansas and their families.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Albert and Marcella Stratman; uncle, Jim Hoebelheinrich and aunt, Charlene Stratman Kerr.
To all of her caregivers, family and friends, our most sincere gratitude for sharing in her life.
