Amanda M. Johnson, age 91, of Yankton, South Dakota died on Monday, April 28, 2025 at Angelhaus West in Yankton.

A memorial service will be at 2:00 PM, on Friday, May 2, 2025, which would be her 92nd birthday, held at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton with Reverend Kwen Sanderson officiating. Burial will be in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Yankton. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home.

Amanda was born May 2, 1933 in Irene, South Dakota to Martin and Bessie (Axlund) Carlson. In her early years, she moved with her parents to a farm north of Volin, SD and attended Lindberg School until March of 1944 when the family moved to Gayville, SD. On September 15, 1951, Amanda married Donald Johnson at Trinity Lutheran Church in Yankton and lived in Mission Hill, SD. Don worked for Montgomery Wards so that took them to many places including Sioux Falls, SD, Eau Claire, WI, Phoenix, AZ and Prescott, AZ. Amanda worked at the Credit Bureau in Yankton and Prescott, was a medical secretary for Dr. John Gregg in Sioux Falls and various positions at the Yankton Medical Clinic where she worked for 22 years. Finally, Amanda worked as a loan officer for Cen/Lease in Yankton for five years until she retired in 1997.

Amanda spent most of her life in Yankton where she was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, The Center and American Legion Auxiliary in Yankton. She enjoyed music, fishing, boating, playing cards, reading and watching all sports. Amanda also enjoyed quilting and was part of the Trinity Lutheran Quilters for 27 years. Most of all, Amanda loved her family and treasured the time spent with them.

Amanda is survived by two sons, Bradley (Jolene) Johnson of Omaha, NE and Bruce Johnson (Jane Gunderson) of Yankton; seven grandchildren: Laura (Eric) Stayer, Jacob (Jalynn) Johnson, Adam (Becki) Johnson, Nikki (Eric) Rogge, Dustin (Tonya) Johnson, Marissa Johnson and Breanna (Taylor) Berg; 12 great grandchildren: Ashley and Lucas Stayer, Tyler, Kamryn, Keaton, Taitum and Stetson Johnson, Norah and Dillon Rogge, Stella, Tryton and Aurora Berg; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Amanda was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Don on July 15, 2020; three brothers: Wayne, Robert and Aldrew Carlson; and three sisters: Ardelle Stengle, Odeal Carpenter and Betty Stinnett.
