Allen Schoenfish, age 84, of Menno, South Dakota, died Thursday, June 18, 2026, at the Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Funeral services will be 10:30 AM on Monday, June 22, 2026, at Grace Lutheran Church in Menno, South Dakota, with Reverend Susan Fox officiating. Burial will be in the Menno Cemetery with military honors provided by the American Legion Rames-Bender Post 152. Visitation is from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Sunday, June 21, 2026 at Grace Lutheran Church in Menno with a prayer service at 7:00 PM. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton, South Dakota.

Pallbearers will be his grandchildren: Ethan, Devan, Kaitlyn and Hayden Verba, Dylan Lammers, Lauren and Brooks Schoenfish. Honorary pallbearers will be: Robert Schoenfish, William Schoenfish, Del Ray Edelman, and Gary Wagner.

Allen Schoenfish was born August 29, 1941, in Yankton, South Dakota, to Emil and Huldina (Wollman) Schoenfish. He grew up on the family farm near Menno, South Dakota and graduated from Menno High School in 1959. He joined the Army National Guard and following his time in the Guards he returned to the family farm and also began working at the Roxy Theater in Menno and then at Menno Livestock. He married Marcine Roth on August 24, 1969, in Tripp, South Dakota. Allen continued farming and also began driving truck for Mehlhaf Trucking. He later purchased Mehlhaf Trucking in 1988 and started Schoenfish Trucking which he continued until his passing.

Allen was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and the American Legion Rames-Bender Post 152. He had a sarcastic sense of humor and was always very social. He enjoyed his time visiting with friends, customers and employees at the sale barns. He loved watching the Menno Baseball Teams, watching game shows and was especially proud of his grandchildren.

Survivors include his four children: Ann (Justin) Verba of Huntertown, Indiana; Scott (Terah) Schoenfish of Menno, South Dakota; Sherri Schoenfish of Garretson, South Dakota; and Steven Schoenfish of McIntosh, South Dakota; seven grandchildren: Ethan, Devan, Kaitlyn and Hayden Verba, Dylan Lammers, Lauren and Brooks Schoenfish; two brothers: Glenn (Kay) Schoenfish of Lenexa, Kansas and Delmar (Veronica) Schoenfish of Cambridge, Nebraska; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Marcine on September 17, 2022; and two sisters: Angeline Schoenfish and Ardina Huether: and three brothers: Art, Marvin and Elton Schoenfish.
