Alice Marie Stevens age 93 formerly of the Crofton and Constance, NE area died on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at Parkview Haven Nursing Home in Coleridge. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, May 13, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Constance, NE with the Rev. Jim Keiter and Rev. Roger Schmidt officiating.  Burial will be at St. Joseph’s cemetery in Constance.  Visitation will be on Thursday, at church, from 5-7:00 p.m. with a vigil service at 7:00 p.m.  Visitation will continue on Friday one hour prior to services.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home in Crofton.  You may watch a livestream of the funeral at www.facebook.com/WintzRay/live Pallbearers will be her grandsons Chad Stevens, Brian Stevens, John Stevens, Justin Stevens, Luke Stevens, Jake Stevens, and Isaac Stevens.  Honorary pallbearers will be her two granddaughters Charice Sponsler and Claudia Stevens. Alice Marie was born on June 3, 1928 in Yankton, SD to Henry J. and Frances (Backus) Billerbeck.  She grew up in the Constance area and graduated from Crofton High School.  Alice grew up on the farm and did hard labor milking, raising a garden and doing other chores.  Alice attended Mount Marty College in Yankton and received her nursing degree.  Alice worked as a registered nurse at the Osmond Hospital, Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton and the Bloomfield Good Samaritan Nursing Home.  Alice also helped with home care and hospice care for many people in the area. Alice was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, its ladies guild, parish council, Eucharistic Minister, Christian Mothers, St. Joseph School Board, Blue Ribbon member, 4-H leader.  Alice was an excellent seamstress and cook for her family.  After her husband Dan died on January 20, 1996 at the age of 71- she and Eva Buschcamp  began travelling to all 50 states and overseas to Rome, Greece, Venice, and Hawaii to name a few.  They also enjoyed an Alaskan cruise.  Alice always loved to play cards with family and friends. Alice is survived by her three sons and spouses William (Carol) Stevens of Fordyce, Mike (Denise) Stevens of Crofton, Tom (Beth) Stevens of Fordyce; 9 grandchildren; 12 great grandsons. She was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Frances Billerbeck; husband Dan; son John; and 10 siblings.
