Laura (Pennington) Suhr, age 42, and Sean Suhr, age 2, of Norfolk, Nebraska and formerly of Yankton, South Dakota, died on Saturday, May 7, 2016 in a motor vehicle accident in South Yankton, Nebraska.
A memorial visitation for Laura and Sean will be on Thursday May 12, 2016, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton with a time of sharing at 6:00 PM. Graveside services will be 10:00 AM on Saturday May 14, 2016, in Union Cemetery in Spencer, Nebraska.
Laura was born April 27, 1974 in Lynch, Nebraska to Paula (Luedke) Pennington and Steven Pennington. She graduated from Norfolk High School in 1992 and moved to Yankton a few years later. Laura worked at various places including Walmart and Sapa but spent most of her time working in food service. In 2013, she moved to Aberdeen, South Dakota.
Sean was born on January 5, 2014 in Aberdeen, South Dakota to David Fowler and Laura Pennington. Sean was a typical little boy with a beaming smile. He was very smart, learning that he could go through a doggy door to get into the house of a friend of his Grandma Quackers (Paula)!! He loved his brother, Ryan, and was always thrilled when he visited. Even though his family is totally heartbroken with his passing, he was a tissue donor (eyes, heart valves and juvenile cartilage), giving some solace to them.
Last year, they moved to Norfolk. Laura loved a variety of different music and always played "Name That Artist" with her family. She was constantly looking out for the needs of others before her own and always had the desire to help. Laura also loved animals but above all, she loved her boys.
Laura's survivors include two sons, Levi Steenhoven of Yankton and Ryan Suhr of Bloomfield, NE; mother, Paula Pennington of Norfolk; father Steven Pennington of Texas City, TX; grandfather, Charles Luedke of Spencer, NE; aunt and uncle, Barb and Bill Collier of Lincoln, NE; niece and nephew, Chase Collier of Lincoln and Kelli Collier of Omaha; and many other special aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Sean's survivors include two brothers, Levi Steenhoven of Yankton and Ryan Suhr of Bloomfield, NE, father, David Fowler of Aberdeen, SD; grandparents, Paula Pennington of Norfolk, NE and Mary (Arlie) Haar of Bath, SD; and uncle, Mike Acklin of Aberdeen.
Laura was preceded in death by her grandmother, Marjorie Luedke and uncle, David Luedke.

Laura and I worked together at Yesterday's in Yankton. We became instant friends and were there for each other. I still can't believe you and Sean are gone. Your family is in my prayers, I love you Laura and will miss you.
I worked with Laura at Walmart in Yankton plus I lived a block from her when she lived outside of Yankton. My thoughts and prayers are with her family.
My sincere condolences Paula. I thought of Laura as one of my own daughters. She and my daughter, Kelly were best friends and Laura spent many weekends at our house and she at Laura's. I will always miss that sweet girl and will always consider her part of my family. Love you Laura. You & Sean rest in peace now.
I went to jr high with Laura in Norfolk.I was very shocked and sad to hear of her and her sons passing. My best memory would have to be hanging out with her at her moms pet store that she had in Norfolk.I saw her last when she was working at Yesterdays Cafe in Yankton and caught up with what was going on in our lives, how she had two boys at the time and i had 4 girls.I am glad i got the chance to talk to her.My prayers are with you Paula and family.
What a heart wrenching loss of two beautiful souls. Paula, your life will never be the same without these two special people, but your many friends are here to uplift you and keep you in prayer. God has a perfect plan and He will keep you strong. God's Blessings.
I knew Laura when she was in my Girl Scout Troop way back in grade school. She was a wonderful person who worked hard. Everyone will miss her.
I went to school with Laura and the last time I was able to see her was at our 10 year reunion. It was like we had not been apart. She will be sorely missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you, Paula, and your family

I came upon their accident on Sat., half hr. after it happened, as I was on my road trip from Crofton, NE to DeSmet, SD, to attend my nephew's graduation. It was horrible just to see the destruction while the traffic was directed around it. Had no idea a mom & her 2-young children were involved in the accident. My heart goes out to everyone. My deepest condolences to the families involved in the loss of their lives. May God help each of you thru your grieving process. May they R.I.P.

I am so sorry for Laura's family. Such a tragic loss. I graduated with Laura. We were friends in high school, sang in choir together, and spent time doing school/leisure activities our senior year. She was always a kind and caring person, and had a great laugh. I know she is in heaven and we will meet again. Will be praying for peace and comfort for her friends/family. Rest peacefully with your son my friend.
