Myrtle B. Neumann, age 95, of Yankton and formerly of Fergus Falls, Minnesota, died Friday, December 16, 2011, at Avera Yankton Care Center in Yankton, South Dakota.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Yankton.

Myrtle was born March 6, 1916 in Friberg Township, Minnesota to Otto and Bertha (Buchholz) Richter. She grew up and attended school in Friberg Township. On June 17, 1934, Myrtle married Claude Neumann. After their marriage, they lived in Gary, Indiana where Claude worked as a machinist. During World War II, the family returned to Minnesota while Claude worked for the Army Corp of Engineers in Alaska, Greenland and Iceland. After she retired, she continued to live in Fergus Falls, Minnesota until September of 2011 when she suffered a stroke. She moved to Yankton to be close to her son, Steve. Myrtle loved gardening, crocheting, baking and going to rummage sales. Most of all, she loved her family. She loved to visit with them and reminisce about the past.

James and I are so sorry for your loss. It may be difficult to see now, but we know that the memories of the wonderful times you spent together with your Mom will help to ease your pain over time. Take care, we're thinking of you.

James and Pam Muilenburg

I'm sorry to hear of your mother's death. I know how difficult this time is for you as I just lost my mother on May 6th, this year. I am a cousin of yours. My grandmother, Minnie (Larson) Carlson from Ashby (died in 1966) was a sister to Claude's mother, Dora. I have been doing a lot of family history from the Larson side of the family and have both your parents in "the book" I am working on as well as all their children. I would very much like to establish contact with you regarding family history, etc. My deepest sympathies go out to all of you.

Claudia Lunning - 4564 West Arm Rd, Spring Park, MN 55384
