Gordon David Mischke was born on March 29, 1921 in Crofton, Nebraska to Martin and Louise (Garnjobst) Mischke. He attended school at rural Frankfort thru the 10th grade and graduated from Crofton High School in 1940. He farmed and ranched along with his brothers Stanley, Cyrus, and Jerome. Gordon was involved with the Mischke Hereford Ranch operation, raising prize-winning Hereford cattle, holding annual bull sales, and often attending stock shows in Denver, Colorado. Calving season often found Gordon getting up in the middle of the night to check on cows and babies. Gordon married Shirley G. Heick on November 6, 1956 in Papillion, NE.
Gordon enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, touring and marble collecting. He took much pride in his large garden plot and was once the winner of the "Garden of the Month" honor. He also enjoyed motorcycles and even after breaking a leg in an accident, he continued to ride. He claimed he could recognize the "V-Room" of a Harley from a half mile away. Gordon belonged to the United Church of Christ in Crofton. He had been accepted into Evangelical faith in June of 1936 in rural Crofton. He also belonged to a Northeast Nebraska hunting club, also to the American Hereford Association and the NRA. He was instrumental in educating young hunters in legal and safe hunting.
Gordon is survived by his wife Shirley of Crofton; three sons and spouses Barry and Lori Mischke of Allen, NE, Randy Mischke of Yankton, SD, Marty and Tina Mischke of Omaha; one daughter Debra Mischke of Bloomfield, NE; four grandchildren Summer King of Pierce, NE, Christina and husband Wayne Jeppesen of Lincoln, NE, Amanda Mischke of Omaha, Isabel Fuentes of Omaha; three great grandchildren Daianera Jeppesen, Adam King, and Asher Jeppesen.

I have spent so much time over the years thinking about my dad and favorite uncles. Each halped me with my life decisions. Gordon was special to me as he was my second father as he was always there to invite me to do things that were fun to make all the work seam easier to handle. He will be missed, I am glad my son was able to spend time with him listening to stories. Brian was a great story teller.
Thank you all for sharing Gordon with me
